Enfield Council is urging all parents who may be eligible, to register for free school meals before the 16th January.

Parents urged to claim free school meals

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools and children’s services, said, “There are just a few days left to register for free school meals and we do not want anyone to miss out.

“Parents can save £380 a year for each child having a healthy tasty lunch which is providing the balanced nutrition to help them learn.”

"In addition, just registering for free school meals if you are eligible means your child's school will receive more funding from the government.”

Kosher, hallal or vegetarian options are available and registration is easy. Parents can sign up once a year at their children’s schools, contact Enfield’s pupil benefits service on 020 8379 5367 or complete a form on the council’s website at http://www.enfield.gov.uk/

Parents or carers who receive one of the following benefits are eligible for free school meals:

• Income support
• Income-based jobseeker’s allowance
• Employment & support allowance
• Assisted as an asylum seeker
• Child tax credit only and annual income of £16,190
• Guaranteed element of State Pension Credit
