Published Thursday, 08 December 2011
An important public consultation is taking place, ending in January.
It will look at the impact of NHS Enfield reducing the opening hours of the Evergreen Walk In Service in Edmonton.
To make sure that residents voices are heard a special public meeting of the Health and Wellbeing Scrutiny Panel will take place in December to gather views which will form the basis of recommendations which will be made by the Panel.
Date - Thursday 15th December 2011
Venue Room 1, Community House, 311 Fore Street, Edmonton, N9 0PZ
Evergreen Surgery is currently under contract to provide care for all non GP registered Enfield patients, and those nearby who require emergency attention. A review of the service found significant duplication of services provided in General Practice and in the Walk In Service.
So following discussions with local GPs and stakeholders, two options for change have been identified:
Option 1 - Provision of a GP led Walk In Service during the hours of 8am 8pm at weekends and bank holidays only.
Option 2 Provision of a Walk In Service during the hours of 6.30pm - 8pm Monday to Friday; and also during the hours of 8am 8pm at weekends and bank holidays.
There is no plan to change services at weekends or bank holidays.
Cllr Alev Cazimoglu, Health Scrutiny Chair said The changes proposed to the Evergreen Walk In Centre by the NHS will be closely scrutinised by the Health and Scrutiny Wellbeing Panel, but suggestions have been made that health services are doubling up on provision, which means that money is not available which could be used for other health care.
This public meeting gives everyone who is interested in the service a chance to let the NHS know what they think about this, have their say, question speakers on why the changes are being proposed and to inform the Health and Scrutiny Wellbeing Panel. Everyone is warmly welcome.
Other attendees include Sarah Thompson, Borough Director of NHS Enfield and Dr Alpesh Patel, Chair of the Enfield Clinical Commissioning Group.
