Tilley Awards recognise Enfield Council's achievement
Published Thursday, 17 November 2011
Enfield Council was celebrating this week as it was advised that the Council has been nominated for a Certificate of Merit for its ‘Safe as Houses’ work at the up and coming Tilley Awards.
The Safe as Houses project tackled domestic burglary in the borough by the implementation of alley gating schemes in a targeted area, and additional help to residents on general household security. The scheme continues to go from strength to strength.
Enfield is one of eight areas nationally shortlisted for this award, and there is a public vote to help determine the winner.
The vote closes on the 28th November and people can vote at: http://www.homeoffice.gov.uk/crime/partnerships/tilley-awards-2011/finalists-vote2011/
Cllr Christine Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said The Safe as Houses scheme was excellent as it showed real visible results; after works were started the targeted streets saw a 46.7 per cent reduction in burglaries.
The Tilley Awards have recognised the success of the scheme, and I would urge everyone to vote for us.
