Young people at eight Enfield schools are now eagerly polishing their performances for their final performances in the competition to find Enfields best Glee performers.
The competition has been intense among 15 schools who took part in regional heats in October.
Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for school and childrens services, said, Glee groups have involved over 200 young people aged 11- 18 in schools across the borough as part of an extended schools project.
It has been extremely popular. Enfield Glee Clubs are based on the music and singing from the American hit TV series 'Glee'. Local inclusive theatre company, Face Front have been leading the work bringing a wealth of experience to a 20 week programme of one hour sessions.
Annie Smol from Face Front added, This is a positive approach to raising aspirations, especially among some disadvantaged young people by providing opportunities to try music, dance and drama and nurturing their talents.
Through a popular television series that appeals to many young people Glee brings some fun and team work together enabling young people to express themselves through the performing arts.
The after school sessions included: singing, dancing, drama, song writing and choreography.
The Glee project was the result of a successful council bid to Youth Music which awarded the council £30,000.
Schools in the final include:
Enfield Oasis
West Lea
Enfield Grammar
Durants
Winchmore
Lea Valley High
St Ignatius
Nightingale Academy
The finals promise to be an evening of high entertainment with song, dance and drama as young people interpret their issues: bullying, rumours, greed and jealousy through the music, dance and drama that they love.
