Council and police work together to prevent Halloween frights
Published Monday, 31 October 2011
This year Enfield Council is working proactively with local police to prevent anti social behaviour and crime over the Halloween weekend and on bonfire night.
Halloween and bonfire night traditionally see an increase in calls to emergency services for anti social behaviour, fires and other issues which cause problems for residents.
This year the police will be ensuring over these times there will be extra police on patrol, and the Councils Community Safety Team will be working with police and housing providers to help reduce risk to residents.
The fire brigade will also have extra personnel on standby and will be issuing fire safety advice on how to use candles and fireworks safely.
Cllr Christine Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said This year Halloween follows a weekend, so we could be looking at three days of anti social behaviour. Firework night is a Saturday, again a peak time for the police and emergency services so it is more important then ever to ensure there are sufficient personnel to ensure residents feel safe.
If residents wish to report a non urgent incident to local police they should call 101, in an emergency they must always dial 999.
