The British Heart Foundation announced this week that Enfield has been designated a heart town in recognition of the work NHS Enfield and Enfield Council has done in reducing both heart disease and its risk factors.
To celebrate a special bike ride will take place. Beginning at the Civic Centre at 10.00am on Sunday 9th October, all those taking part will cycle around the borough in an area shaped like a heart. Cyclists will be cheered on their way by Mayor Cllr Christiana During, and the ride will be led by the Enfield Cycle Campaign.
Taking in famous landmarks of the borough many riders will be wearing a British Heart Foundation T-shirt to pledge support.
Everyone is welcome to join in, just turn up with your bike.
Cllr Christine Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Public Health said Cycling is an excellent means by which people can not only get fit, but save money on transport. Enfield is only six miles from one end to the other; so many areas are accessible by bike
