Crooks in the frame as council says Give it Up

Enfield Council is urging anyone who took part in looting at local shops and businesses during the recent riots in Enfield to give up their ill gotten gains at their local police station before they are caught.
Prompted by a local resident who walked into Edmonton police station this week to hand in a television which they had stolen, the Council is appealing for other people who have acquired goods illegally to hand them back.
Thanks to state of the art CCTV footage, Enfield Council has captured hundreds of high quality digital images of trouble makers from Sunday night's (August 7) disturbances in the town centre which police are sifting through.
Cllr Christine Hamilton, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said: "We will not tolerate criminal behaviour in this borough and we will work with the police and do whatever it takes to track down those people responsible for causing havoc in our town centre on Sunday night.
The individual who handed in the TV today felt the net closing in and decided not to wait for the inevitable visit from the police.
Thanks to the excellent work of our CCTV operators we have hundreds of high quality images of those who caused damage and distress during the rioting which have been handed to police.
"I would urge anyone who took property during the looting to hand it into their local police station and give themselves up before they are caught.
Enfield Council has launched a Respect for Enfield campaign telling the world that we will not be intimidated by a mindless minority, and will move forward as a strong and united community. Despite the recent unrest Enfield remains open for business.
