Statement from Cllr Doug Taylor regarding violence in Enfield

"There is no justification for such behaviour which was an attack on Enfield, its people and its businesses.  It is important now that the whole community pulls together, remains calm and moves forward.

"I will be organising meetings with Enfield's community leaders to try address their concerns and see whether there are any lessons to be learnt.

"Enfield is an area with deprivation and we know that can be linked to crime and we need to address that, but that is not an excuse for looting and wanton destruction.

"I would like to thank the police for their efforts in protecting life and striving to safeguard property.  The Council will be working with the police to ensure our residents are safe and secure and maintain a strong community."
