Join former Trent Park ranger and survival expert Andy Jones on the exciting and informative Nocturnal Explorer Walk and take a walk on the wild side.
Date - Friday 5th August, 8.30pm
Venue - Meet by Trent Park Café, Cockfosters Road,
Duration approx 2 hours. Bring a torch. Car park will be open.
Suitable for all ages. FREE!!! No need to book.
As darkness falls join Andy Jones and Parks Outreach Officer Alan Mitellas for a night of exploration and fun in Trent Park as you explore the evening wildlife and learn some tracking skills from a pro.
Walking through Trent Park at night, be on the lookout for bats as they fly about hunting for their food. A bat detector will be connected to a speaker system so you can hear their special high pitched calls and seek out these special little creatures of the night.
A food station will be set up in the park to examine what kind of creatures are out and about whilst we sleep. How many can you see? Watch Andy Jones as he tracks them at night, using special high powered night vision goggles. Ultra high powered torches will also be used to illuminate all around, seeking out those animals we would never normally see. Longworth traps planted earlier will also be checked for small mammals.
Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said "This is one of the most interesting walks yet by far.
"To go by night into ancient Trent Park, with its history and legend, and do something as fascinating as tracking and exploring is very exciting.
"With Andy Jones at the helm, this guided walk is going to be the greatest yet, especially for children or anyone interested in learning about the evening wildlife. Don't miss it."
