Cllr Charalambous puts best foot forward to try Nordic walking
Published Monday, 23 May 2011
Last week Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture met Top Nordic Walker, Martin Christie, in Town Park to promote a free Nordic Walking taster session to get people interested in this fantastic sport.
Nordic Walking involves the use of poles to ensure that the upper body gets as good a workout as the lower body, and it can be done by anybody, anywhere and does not require expensive equipment or clothing.
This session was conducted by Martin himself and everyone was invited to just turn up and give it a go. Lots of people turned up and had a great time.
Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said "I really enjoyed myself and I have to say Nordic walking really is a fun and interesting way to get fit.
"Enfield runs a fantastic walks programme which has different walks, with varying themes held in parks and open spaces all over the borough.
"They are for people with all levels of fitness, interests, ages and different levels of ability. Go online and find out more."
