Ordnance Road Library now boasting new self issue kiosks
Published Wednesday, 27 April 2011
Ordnance Road Library reopened this week with two new state of the art self issue kiosks installed which have replaced the old reception counter.
The two kiosks will help speed up visitors checking out their own items and free up staff time to assist with other enquiries. One kiosk is in the main library and one in the children's area.
The areas also boast some 'quick choice' material, which make it even quicker and easier for anyone visiting the library to assess the items they want quickly and easily.
A new Job Club will also be starting in the library in mid May.
Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Cabinet Member for Leisure and Culture said "Ordnance Road Library is one of our key libraries in a busy part of the borough which does suffer deprivation.
"Not everyone in this ward has easy access to computers, books or study materials so it has always been vital that this library remains well equipped and modern.
"By removing the old counter and putting in these new self issue kiosks it will allow more people to check out more items more quickly. They will also be able to access popular items more easily. I hope that residents will visit Ordnance Road Library and try out the new kiosks for themselves.
"When the Job Club begins in May it will be more important than ever that the library boasts the most up to date equipment. These are exciting times for Ordnance Road."
These works were funded jointly by the Library & Museum Service and the Working Neighbourhoods Fund. A grant was received from Job Centre Plus to start up the Job Club.
