Enfield Council helping you save money
Published Tuesday, 08 March 2011
Enfield Council is working in partnership with Southern Electric, to offer a range of energy and water saving measures to Enfield residents. Enfield Council is giving its full support to this scheme as these measures could help reduce your energy and water bills, cut down on energy wastage and helps reduce the impact of climate change.
Letters are being hand delivered by surveyors contracted by Southern Electric in three wards. We are particularly targeting the scheme in the Jubilee, New Southgate and Bowes wards.
Councillor Ahmet Oykener, Cabinet Member for Housing at Enfield Council, said: "This scheme is one way we are helping to bring properties in Enfield up to the Decent Homes standard.
"Free energy and water saving measures may be available to you if you are a homeowner or renting from a private landlord. You may be able to take up offers from the energy company, regardless of who supplies your gas and electricity."
Southern Electric has commissioned specialist Energy Surveyors from Barings Insulation Limited to identify those properties that might benefit from these measures.
Councillor Don McGowan, Cabinet Member for Older People, Health & Adult Social Care said: "Many residents are worried about paying high fuel bills. Enfield Council is working with energy suppliers to achieve targets for improving home energy efficiency.
"For example, where appropriate insulation works will be offered free to Enfield residents over 70, on means-tested or receiving disabled benefits."
To find out if you are eligible for these energy saving measures in your home such as hot water tank jackets, loft insulation and cavity wall insulation please contact Barings Insulation Limited on 0800 833826.
Comprehensive advice is also available from the Energy Saving Trust. You could save around £250 per year by giving your home a check up. Take a few minutes to complete the short questionnaire online or call the Energy Saving Trust for a paper copy.
