Bus wheels out new service access

Published Friday, 04 March 2011

Enfield Council’s new mobile customer service is visiting parts of the borough in Ponders End, Edmonton, Palmers Green, Enfield and New Southgate.

Bus wheels out new service access

This well equipped bus is a travelling service loaded with council information, and computer access for council services and a stock of books and items to borrow.

Council Leader, Cllr Doug Taylor, said, "We have totally refurbished the mobile library to create an access service for people who cannot reach a local library easily, We have also improved the bus to provide full information and help for people who want to request a service using the internet.

"Friendly staff on the bus can help residents use all the council's online services, track special waste collections or make any self service transactions. We hope that people will find this a useful way to contact the council and find out about all aspects of services, meetings and plans that affect them."

This is the first phase of an extensive service combining a mobile library with customer information. Building on the success of the mobile library it has extended its hours and in due course more areas of the borough will be added to the round.
