Claim school uniform grant now
Published Friday, 11 February 2011
Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for schools & children’s services is urging parents on low incomes who have children either in the reception year group or Year 7 to put in a claim for school uniform grant before the 31st March.
She said, "After 31st March it will be too late to make a claim for this year, and I don't want anybody to miss out if they need this help.
"Letters have been sent to all families with children who are in reception classes in primary schools and in Year 7 in secondary schools explaining how the scheme works and how they can apply for a grant if they think they are eligible. This is a key promise that we made as a Council to help families who may be struggling.
"There will be £22 for reception aged children and for pupils transferring to secondary schools it will be £85."
Parents wishing to apply for a grant can contact the Pupil Benefit Service on 020 8379 5367 or download the application form from the Council's website, www.enfield.gov.uk.
