Council serves up a feast of festive family fun

Published Friday, 03 December 2010

Brave the chill and wrap up warm for the Ponders End Christmas Festival. Enfield Council is organising a day of free festive fun for all the family next Saturday 11th December. The High Street will be packed with street performers – snow fairies, emperor penguins, clowns and balloon artists from 11am-6.30pm.

Residents can also get crafty at various art and creative workshops run by Art Start and Drumnasium. Dance group Starz will be performing before The Mayor of Enfield, Councillor Jayne Buckland switches on the Christmas lights at 5pm. For those who wish to come in from the cold, the Hummingbird Jazz Duo will be performing at the Millennium Café from 5.30pm-6.30pm.

Cllr Del Goddard, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Improving Localities said, "The Council has been working in partnership with EBRA and the traders on Ponders End High Street to support the retail offer in Ponders End. The Christmas festival is about celebrating our high street. I hope as many Ponders End residents as possible will come out to support their local traders and enjoy a day of free family fun for everyone."

Nick Johnson, EBRA Town Centre Manager said, "Last year's event was a great success and this year's festival promises to be even bigger and better. I'm looking forward to seeing lots of families on the high street enjoying the entertainment and getting into the Christmas spirit."

The Council wishes to thank EBRA and Tesco Ponders End for their generous support of this year's festival.
