Service ideas improve equality

Published Thursday 9th September 10

Over 100 ideas and proposals to improve equality across council, health, police, fire and voluntary services in Enfield have been set out in a recent report.

This information appears in the recently published report of the 'Tackling Inequality in Enfield' conference held in February this year.

Some 150 people from concerned groups and members of the public presented their views to officers, doctors and leading experts about how services could become more accessible and streamlined making them more accessible and easier to use.

Suggestions about contacting the council about childcare, faith, disability, and teenage pregnancy issues,  plus GP practices, patient appointments, improving access and better communication were among the range of good ideas.

Deputy council leader, Achilleas Georgiou, said, "It is only by asking people how we can improve our local services that we can start to change them for the better and that makes life fairer.

"I am delighted that we now have some concrete suggestions to work on and that we can make a start on the necessary improvements."
