Enfield students ahead of national results
Published Wednesday 25th August 10
In Enfield 97.8% of the A Levels entered resulted in a pass. Ten Enfield schools had more A Level entries this year than in 2009.
With 8.3% of all Enfield entries achieving an A* and over half of the entries (50.4%) at grades A*, A or B, Enfield students are narrowly ahead of the national average of 97.6% this year.
This year an A* grade was introduced for A Levels. Nationally 8.1% of A levels received an A* grade and 51.8% were at grades A*, A or B.
Cllr Ayfer Orhan, cabinet member for education and children's services, said, " Enfield 's school students can be very proud of their achievement which demonstrates just how well they are doing.
"These results hold up very well against national trends and our students and their teachers are to be congratulated. I wish them all every success."
Neil Rousell, co-director for education, children's services and leisure added, "This is an excellent result where our students have achieved results that beat the national average. It reflects the hard work and application that they have made and I wish them and their teachers my very best wishes for continued success."
In Enfield a range of courses of study was followed. These included 'A' Level and AS Levels; BTEC courses and Diploma courses.
The figures in the tables include the A level figures only and do not include any of the other qualifications as there has not been a complete return from the schools.
These are provisional results. When more results come through and appeals are taken into account the overall final figure will alter in the Achievement and Attainment Tables published in January 2011. These tables will include the results from all post-16 qualifications studied by pupils in Enfield schools and colleges, and will not be based on A Level results alone.
The 2011 performance tables will include information on average points per entry and average points per student. The average points per entry included here are based on the following point scores for A level;

2009 points per entry are taken from the 2009 Achievement and Attainment Tables and cover all A level and A level equivalent results.
2010 information is for A level only and does not include any other equivalent results (such as AS, BTEC, Vocational Double Awards) as there is not a complete picture from all schools.
