Kelly Knox, the winner of Britain’s Missing Top Model, and an Enfield resident, hosted an extra special fashion show at an event last week which had service users as the stars modelling some eye catching creations.
The event was a Beacon Celebration to acknowledge and thank all the Council's partners, service users and carers, that have supported and contributed towards Enfield achieving Beacon status and working with the Council during the Beacon year.
The day heard testimonials from service users on how they have been supported and empowered by Enfield Council. There were also story boards highlighting events and activities that were held during the Beacon year.
The star studded highlight of the day was the catwalk fashion show, hosted by Kelly, who has shown that disability is no bar to beauty. She hosted the show which saw service users strutting their stuff.
Cllr Don McGowan, Cabinet Member for Older People and Adult Social Services said "This exciting event is the culmination of a lot of hard work, firstly in getting our Beacon, and then maintaining the exceptionally high standards you have come to expect from Enfield.
"This is the final celebration to finish off what has been a very exciting year of Beacon activities.
"We are extremely proud of the first rate service that we provide for all our service users, and how we ensure that people with disabilities are empowered to live as independently as possible.
"I was delighted to see top model Kelly join us on this important day, and making the event extra special for all those who are attending."
