The Council welcomes all petitions.
The Council welcomes all petitions. Paper petitions can be sent to:
Democratic Services Team
Finance and Corporate Resources Department
London Borough of Enfield
PO Box 54
Civic Centre
Silver Street
Enfield
Middlesex
EN1 3XF
The Council will acknowledge receipt of a petition within ten working days.
Petitions must include:
- A clear and concise statement covering the subject of the petition. It should state what action the petitioners wish the council to take.
- The name, address and signature of any person supporting the petition. Petitions should be accompanied by contact details, including the address for the petition organiser.
Petitions can be organised or signed by anyone who lives, works, studies or does business in the Borough.
Petitions will not be accepted if they are considered to be vexatious, abusive or otherwise inappropriate. In addition, Planning and Licensing issues and any other matters which already have a right of recourse to a review or right of appeal are excluded from the Council's Petitions Scheme.
The Council's response to a petition will depend on what a petition asks for and how many people have signed it. View the full details of the Council's Petitions Scheme.
Petitions with 2750 signatures can be presented to Council for consideration and a petition can seek to call an officer for the Council to account by the Overview and Scrutiny Committee (1375 signatures.)
In addition to the above scheme there is a facility to present deputations (with or without petitions) to meetings of the Council's Cabinet and Planning committee. View these details.
