Care agencies join Enfield’s Mayor for Dementia Awareness Event

Published Tuesday, 24 November 2015

Enfield’s Mayor, Cllr Patricia Ekechi is determined to raise awareness of dementia in Enfield with a day devoted to the help and support available to both those living with the disease and their families and carers.

10am – 3pm, Saturday 28 November
Enfield Council Conference Room, Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield EN1 3XA

Residents are invited to a special day in the conference room at the Enfield Civic Centre where a ‘Marketplace’ of local services, information and advice sharing will be available.

Cllr Ekechi, said: “Dementia is my chosen charity during my year as mayor and I want to do all I can to make people more aware of the various ways it can be managed.

“Although it is a condition which is not curable, those with it can be supported through all the help groups and therapies available at our event and let’s hope that medical advances will eventually find a way to cure or even prevent this cruel disease.”

To accompany this event there are 16 collection boxes for dementia distributed in the borough in Enfield Town: Barclays, TSB, Halifax, The George Pub and Maani Hair; and in Edmonton Fore Street: NatWest, Big Ben supermarket and chemist shops.

The boxes are white with the Enfield Mayoral Crest printed with Mayor’s Charity Appeal 2015/16.

The Mayor is still recruiting more shops and banks to have collection boxes and it would be greatly appreciated if more organisations will be willing to help.

If anyone is willing to support the Mayor's Dementia Charity by having a collection box or making a donation they can contact the Mayor's Office by emailing Email or calling 020 8379 8348.
