War heroes remembered in Enfield

Published Friday, 30 October 2015

On Remembrance Sunday, 8 November, ceremonies in Edmonton, Enfield Town and Southgate are paying tribute to those who lost their lives in two World Wars and more recent world conflicts.

And on Wednesday 11 November, Enfield Royal British Legion is leading an event that marks the anniversary of the first Armistice Day in 1918.

Enfield Council is supporting the Royal British Legion at Edmonton on 8 November with a moving ceremony which honours those who lost their lives, while in both Southgate and Enfield Town the British Legion is marking the day with parades and ceremonies at the local War Memorials.

Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Doug Taylor, said, “Across the borough, the people of Enfield will pay tribute to those who paid the ultimate price in times of war – the brave people who took the risks to preserve the values of a free country. It is at these times that we can be united in giving thanks for their courage, recognising their incalculable contribution to our way of life.”
