Enfield Council’s Leader, Cllr Doug Taylor congratulates Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, on the longevity of her reign.

He said: “On behalf of Enfield Council and the people of Enfield we send our warmest wishes to Her Majesty. She has reigned over this country at a time of great change, not only within the United Kingdom but also within the Commonwealth. She is a highly regarded monarch who has the affection and regard of the country.

“We are proud that she chose to visit Enfield in 2003 spending several hours in the borough meeting local people and lunching at Forty Hall with members of the council. It was a great day for the people of Enfield and one that we shall all remember.

“It seems that she has a fondness for Enfield paying another visit to the borough in 2010 to Capel Manor College.

“Enfield’s Queen Elizabeth II Stadium in Donkey Lane, Enfield, was opened in 1953, the year of her coronation. In 2009 /10 it was refurbished by Enfield Council with a new running track and spectator seating, new changing rooms and renovation of the meeting and pavilion centre which retains the original design of the Queen Elizabeth ship.

“As a venue for Enfield Town FC and athletics ground for schools it is a great  monument to Her Majesty. We wish her continued good health in her reign."
