Enfield Council looks East for visit

Published Friday, 04 September 2015

Enfield recently welcomed seven high profile Chinese government officials from Jiangxi Province’s Environmental Department. The delegates discovered how Enfield Council deals with pollution, recycling and emission reduction.

They also heard about Enfield 2020, the council’s sustainability programme, which aims to make the borough a better place to live, work and visit.

The visitors were very impressed with Enfield’s ambitious sustainability initiatives and the Council has been asked to develop future programmes for other professionals across China.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said “I was delighted to welcome such an important Chinese delegation to Enfield and that we were able to demonstrate to our overseas colleagues much of the good work we are doing here.

“Enfield Council is very excited about some of the huge environmental projects that we have on the go right now, such as the Lea Valley Heat Network, which will provide clean affordable power to hundreds of homes locally; and our large scale, sustainable building programmes.

“The day went extremely well and I was subsequently delighted to hear that we have been asked to share our knowledge with environmental professionals throughout China.”
