Play Festival comes to Town Park

Published Friday, 31 July 2015

A festival of play in Enfield Town Park is celebrating National Play Day for children and their families to have some fabulous free fun on Wednesday 5 August.

National Playday Wednesday 5 August
12.00noon – 4.00pm in Enfield Town Park, Enfield Town

Enfield Council’s play team has prepared a day packed with exciting free events including bouncy castles, arts and crafts; face painting, giant orbs, games, dance workshops, and an under-fives play area from Asquith Day Nurseries to make this a memorable day.

Tasty healthy fruit snacks and information about free school meals are being handed out to families and everyone will be encouraged to ‘play more’ the theme for this year’s Play Day.
Play is an essential part of learning where children share the fun, master new skills and laugh. ‘Play More’ celebrates the importance of play where summer in Enfield is packed with programmes of fun in parks, play centres and leisure centres.

“Children in Enfield can have a great summer,” says Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Children’s Services, Protection and Libraries, “Enfield Town Park will be a wonderful playground for young children and they can have some fun in the splash pad.

“This special day recognises that children’s play is the foundation for their learning and happiness - it is their right. This summer, I hope that Enfield’s children take full advantage of the free activities at centres throughout the borough and the adventure places in our parks.”

Enfield Council’s Play Development Manager, Ricky Williams, adds: “National Playday gives children, young people and their families a fantastic play opportunity. It’s the Play Development Team’s favourite day of the year as we get to see hundreds of happy faces playing, creating and enjoying.”
