Enfield cares for carers

Monday the 14th June sees the annual ‘Carers Week’ celebration which will highlight the contribution of the estimated 29,000 carers in Enfield.

Kicking off with the launch of the state of the art Carers Centre in Baker Street, the week sees events and information days, plus information about World Elder Abuse Day at Enfield Library, and a chance to get out and about at the ever popular Trent Park Circular Walk.

The week's events in full are:

Monday 14th June 2010
Launch of the Enfield Carers Centre
Britannia House, 137- 143 Baker Street, Enfield, EN1
11.00am till 2.00pm and 6.00pm and 9.00pm
Everyone welcome. Come and find out more what this wonderful new centre has to offer the carers of Enfield.

Tuesday 15th June 2010
First Aid Training Course

Britannia House, 137- 143 Baker Street, Enfield, EN1
9.30am till 4.30pm

World Elder Abuse Awareness Day
Enfield Town Library, 66 Church Street, Enfield, EN2
10.00am till 4.00pm
An event to raise awareness of and to prevent elder abuse. With information on community safety, crime prevention and keeping yourself safe and healthy.

Thursday 17h June 2010
Health and Information Day
Southbury Leisure Centre, Southbury Road, Enfield, EN1
11.00am till 4.00pm
Health checks, complementary therapies, information stalls and free swimming.

Friday 18h June 2010
Evening Theatre to see 'Zombie Prom - True Love Never Dies'

Trent Park Circular Walk

A walk highlighting the park's fascinating aspects of history and natural beauty.
Bring your own packed lunch and drink, and wear suitable footwear.

Free Family Fun Day

Brimsdown Primary School, Green Street, Enfield, EN3
12.00 noon till 5.00pm
Information stalls, BBQ, face painting, arts and crafts, sports activities, complementary therapies.

Cllr Don McGowan, Cabinet Member for Older People and Adult Social Services said "We have approx 29,000 carers in Enfield, probably more as carers often go unnoticed, and they all provide an invaluable service to the community.

"I hope this week's activities draw attention to the challenges that carers of all ages face, and that they are enjoyed by all the community."
