Enfield Trading Standards crack down on counterfeiters

Published Wednesday, 15 July 2015

One hundred and seventy seven items of fake bags, sunglasses, and pieces of jewellery were seized by Enfield Council trading standards officers during a sting in Edmonton on 9 July.

The confiscated goods included counterfeit Louis Vuitton hand bags and Ray Ban sunglasses.  Enfield Council is considering whether to prosecute the traders responsible.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for the Environment, Cllr Daniel Anderson, said: “The sale of fake goods will not be tolerated.

"It is more than just about them charging designer prices for sub-standard products, which damages the reputation of brand holders and affects their profits. These items are unlikely to have had the rigorous testing expected of such products and so could be detrimental to the health of our residents’.

“Rest assured, our officers will continue to seek out illegal items. Counterfeiters should be under no illusions - we will drive them out of the borough.”
