Stories told through dancing and music

Published Wednesday, 18 March 2015

‘Dance me a Story’ is this year’s theme at the Enfield Schools’ Dance Festival organised by Enfield Council.

Over 1,000 pupils from 58 primary, secondary and special schools are taking part, interpreting some of the best loved stories, legends and tales from all over the world at the Millfield Theatre in Edmonton.

Children as young as four with older pupils aged up to 19 are putting on a memorable show that will appeal to everyone.

This is dance at its most dramatic calling on all the skills of acting as well as movement to convey character and emotion as the stories unfold. Some tales have magic and mystery; others have love and romance; and that’s not forgetting the curious and funny tales.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Member for Education, Children’s Services & Protection, said, “This is a festival that just gets better each year. Our young people have perfected routines to bring characters to life and have selected music that fits each story.

“Audiences will thrill to this exceptional festival which showcases the brilliant talent and hard work that goes on in our schools. It is a first class celebration.”
