Over 96% get their secondary school choice

Published Wednesday, 04 March 2015

Over 96% of Enfield children, whose parents applied by the deadline, have been offered a place at one of their preferred six secondary schools.

First preferences at 92% this year, are 4.48% up on the 88.42% figure for all London.

Overall 93.5% of first, second and third choices in Enfield have been met.

Along with all partners Enfield Council worked hard to ensure parents in Enfield were sent their information on National Offer Day, 2 March, 2015.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Schools and Young People, said, “There is a place for every child transferring from primary to secondary schools in Enfield this year, and I am delighted that we have been able to satisfy most school preferences.

“All London councils, together with Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Surrey and Thurrock exchanged information about applications to each other’s schools and worked together to reduce the number of children receiving multiple offers.

“Enfield’s admissions team dealt with 4,076 applications that were received on time and 3,937 children have been offered one of their preferred schools.

“Where it was not possible to offer a place at one of the preferred schools, the council has still been able to make an offer of a school in the borough.”
