Edmonton County is a school for all ages

Published Wednesday, 25 February 2015

Edmonton County School in Little Bury Street is celebrating its ‘all through’ status offering places for children from 4 – 18 year olds.

With a multi-million pound investment from Enfield Council to create new primary accommodation and improve important areas of the secondary school, Edmonton County is offering much needed places across all education sectors, particularly at the primary stage to local parents.

Cllr Ayfer Orhan, Enfield Council’s Cabinet member for School & Children’s Services, said, “Edmonton County took in the first primary pupils in January last year. By 2020 the primary phase will reach full capacity of 420 children.
“This is excellent one-stop education that can support children and their parents through every stage of their learning.”

The new facilities have been carefully designed for younger children through a refurbishment of an existing sixth form block and the replacement of an old design block with a three storey modular building.

Executive Headteacher, Dr Susan Tranter added, “The school is equipped to do a first class job. Our young children are settling in very well, enjoying their learning in superb surroundings. We are determined to see that every child who comes to Edmonton County gets the best from their education and we now have the facilities and staff to make it happen.

“Ofsted inspected our school in December 2014 and commented that ‘Children in the newly opened Reception and pupils in year 1 and 2 classes have made positive starts to their learning because of clear leadership and good teaching.’ "

A number of aspects of the secondary facilities were improved. This included science laboratories, design and technology classrooms, an ICT suite and a multi-use games area.
