Older tenant receives a warm council gift

Cllr Ahmet Oykener, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing delivered a special keep warm gift from the council to 87 year old Mrs Turner at her flat in Oakthorpe Road, Palmers Green.

This was part of an annual round of ‘keep warm and well’ visits to council tenants over the age of 75.

Cllr Oykener said “This year the tenancy management officers are visiting over 100 older tenants checking that all is well, ensuring that their heating is working and talking to them about other services that may help them.

“Each tenant is also receiving a ‘Keep Warm, Keep Well’ goody bag containing a warm throw and some non-perishable food. We want people to contact us if they need support and we want them to know that during the cold weather they need to be warm.”

Mrs Turner was delighted to meet Cllr Oykener, saying, “I think these visits are a very good idea and I will certainly make good use of the 'keep warm and well' items and will wrap up well during the cold spells.”
