Armed Forces Day 2015

Published Monday, 22 June 2015

On Sunday 28 June Enfield will continue its long-standing tradition of hosting an Armed Forces Day Parade to honour the sacrifices of our country’s military.

This year, Enfield Council will be supporting the Enfield Royal British Legion to once again acknowledge the work done by our brave servicemen and women with a parade that begins at 11.15am outside Chase Side Primary School in Trinity Street.

At 11.40am the parade will start marching via the Enfield war memorial, through Enfield Town to the Civic Centre where the Armed Forces Flag will be raised and a salute taken. The march then returns to the Royal British Legion.

The parade will, as ever, include serving troops and their families, veterans, recruits and cadets.

Residents and well wishers are very welcome to line the route.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Organisations and Culture, Cllr Yasemin Brett, said “We owe an enormous debt of gratitude to our armed forces, who are, quite simply, the best in the world at what they do.

“I am delighted we are hosting this year’s Armed Forces Day Parade. It is a superb way of expressing our gratitude and respect to our armed forces while also honouring those who have given their lives in the defence of their country while fighting injustice and tyranny on foreign battlefields.

“I’d urge residents to turn out in force and cheer on our service men and women as they parade through Enfield.”
