Why not get out and about with two great walks from the Parks Outreach Team?

Forty Hall Park

Trent Park Evening Bat Walk - Friday 21st May 2010 - 9.00pm (finish approx 11.00pm) - Trent Country Park - Meet by the Trent Park Cafeteria near Cockfosters Road entrance, EN4

Get Walking Day - Sunday 23rd May 2010 - 10.30am (finish approx 1.30pm) - Forty Hall, Forty Hill, Enfield, EN2 - Meet by the front door of the Hall

The parks outreach team have got together with colleagues from other organisations to bring you two great walks which bring you the best of the outdoors.

On Friday get up close and personal with our flying friends with the Herts and Middx Bat Group.

Setting out in the evening you will be led by an experienced team to get a closer look at bats as they forage in the park.

Bat detectors will enable you to hear the ultrasonic calls these amazing mammals use to navigate and find their insect prey in the dark. You will also be able to ask more about these fascinating little creatures.

Sunday is time to emerge back into the sunshine for a fun walk, led in conjunction with the Ramblers Association to mark Get Walking Day, so why not join in?

Beginning at Forty Hall, walkers will learn more about this Jacobean mansion which is steeped in history, before moving to the remains of Elsyng Palace and Whitewebbs Park, stopping at the infamous King and Tinker pub for a drink or two.

After that it is time for a stroll back to Forty Hall. Visitors can then relax in the Forty Hall café or have a look around the museum.

Alan Mitellas, Parks Outreach Officer said "Both these walks are very interesting in their own ways.

"Our bat walk sets out at night, and is for those interested in the lifestyles of bats and for people who would like to hear them and see them up close. This walk is especially fun for children.

"Sunday's walk celebrates Get Walking Day and asks people, especially those who would not normally consider going on organised walks, to come out with us and have a look at the beautiful parks and open spaces that Enfield has to offer.

"Come along, enjoy the scenery and make some new friends."
