Retrofit London event promises prosperity

Published Friday, 15 May 2015

Local hospitals, care home providers, schools, facilities management and construction businesses turned out in force this week to a special ‘meet the buyer’ event at the Dugdale Centre in Enfield.

Retrofit

The day, organised by Enfield Council, brought together those interested in funding energy saving projects, businesses and public sector organisations considering having energy saving projects in their premises, and local companies wanting to become involved.

This is all part of the ‘Retrofit London’ project, a business support project for small and medium sized enterprises located in Enfield, Haringey, Waltham Forest and Lewisham to help them access energy saving and carbon reduction markets; secure industry standard accreditations required to work in these new markets and help businesses access government backed funding initiatives linked to growing demand for retrofit services.

On the day key note speakers told delegates about the finance and technical expertise they could offer to develop and fund energy saving projects, and how local businesses can access their supply chains to delivery energy saving measures.

Cllr Alan Sitkin, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration & Business Development said “This event was absolutely key in not only pushing the growth and importance of low carbon developments, but allowing companies and providers to network.

“Some of the business opportunities created from this event will create new, permanent jobs and promote inward investment to our borough. I look forward to exploring some of the projects which will be born of this day”

The Retrofit London project is one of over 50 projects in Enfield 2020 sustainability programme, working to make Enfield a better place to live, work and visit by supporting jobs and businesses.
