Dance fever breaks out for eight weeks

Published Friday, 16 April 2010

Dare2Dance is a brand new free dance project for young women in Enfield aged 14-24years.

Young women in this age group are invited to an afternoon getting to know all about the latest street dance styles, meet professional dance teachers from 'bSupreme' and sign up for a free eight week course.

At workshops in Hip-Hop styles such as Breakin', Locking, Popping, House Waacking and Krump, 'bSupreme' dancers will demonstrate exciting new dance skills, rhythm and musical interpretations.

Sports development manager, Jan Hickman, said, "This Empowerment Day is for the girls to meet the dancers, hear more about the project and get a flavour of the course. It will inspire them to take up the free eight -week programme.

"There is a lot of untapped talent that can be harnessed and we want to find it and give Enfield's young women fitness exercise, fun and a chance to find an interest making good friends as they develop routines. We want as many girls as possible to join in this great dance experience."

The eight week programme will take place at the Dugdale Centre where dance routines will be developed for a local competition. It is expected that the winning dancing pair would work on perfecting their routine for a regional London competition at the South Bank in central London in July.
