Enfield Council is lending its support to a special scheme this week, in partnership with the Metropolitan Police, encouraging owners of mobile phones to go online and register the details of their mobile phone, in case of theft.

The scheme, which has been running since 2003, allows people to register goods of value online at which lists the item in the police database, then if it is stolen, and recovered, it has a very high chance of being reunited with its owner. It also assists with proving that the phone is stolen and the offender is more likely to be brought to account.

It is totally secure, free, and recommended by all UK police forces.

Cllr Chris Bond, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety said “We would urge anyone with a mobile phone, or any item of value, to register it on the immobilise website.

“If that item should get stolen, and it is recovered, they will check against the database which means there is a much higher chance of it being returned to its rightful owner.

“Don’t delay, register today!”
