The awards were the ‘2014 Clean Britain Award’ which was given in recognition of the work the council does to keep its streets tidy for residents. The ‘Partner of the Year Award’ from Fields in Trust was in recognition of its efforts in investing significant amounts in its parks and protecting five of them (Craig Park, Jubilee Park, Ponders End Park, St. George’s Field and Tatem Park) in perpetuity by successfully applying for Field in Trust status for them.

Cllr Chris Bond, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety said “These two awards give official recognition to our commitment to preserve the beauty and civic use of our parks and the cleanliness of our streets.

“We continue to invest in street cleaning because spotless streets benefits communities in many ways, one of which is a clean, safe and hygienic environment plays an important role in fostering a sense of civic pride and reducing the likelihood of antisocial behavior. People also rightly want and expect their streets to be free from litter.

“We are also very proud of our parks and invest an enormous amount of time and money into providing facilities and attractions within them for our residents to use and enjoy, so it is very pleasing to receive this Fields in Trust Award in recognition of our efforts.”
