Drink driver nicked

Published Wednesday, 25 February 2015

A known drink driver has been arrested after being traced by Enfield Council’s CCTV operators.

Operators at the council’s control room noticed a woman driver had triggered an automatic alarm warning that her vehicle was owned by a known drink driver and spotted the vehicle driving recklessly at the Nags Head roundabout on 21 February at 2.16am.

They alerted police units who stopped the woman, breathalysed her and arrested her for drink driving.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr Chris Bond, said: “Drink driving is an incredibly foolish thing to do because it puts the lives of pedestrians and other road users at risk. I’m pleased our CCTV operator could play a part in getting this dangerous driver off our roads and protect the public from harm.”
