A stolen car was recovered and the occupant arrested after quick witted Enfield Council CCTV operators spotted it driving through the borough.

The vehicle, a red Kia, was spotted by operators in Edmonton on Sunday (30 November) just before 4am and tracked while police were alerted. Officers spotted the vehicle drive into Charlton Road, where the driver ran off. He was later arrested with the help of a police dog unit.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr Chris Bond, said: “Enfield Council is working closely with the police to tackle vehicle crime in Enfield. It is one of our main priorities at the moment and our CCTV system is playing a major role in tracing stolen cars and directing police to their location so they can be intercepted.”
