Bus review forges ahead

Published Wednesday, 03 December 2014

Transport for London (TfL) are looking at ways of improving access to North Middlesex Hospital as part of a wider review of bus provision in Enfield.

Enfield Council has been working with the Enfield Transport User Group and has come up with a number of proposals to improve bus services for both residents and businesses.

The wide ranging review was submitted to TfL earlier in the year and TfL's bus planners  have been focussing initially on improving access to hospitals. Several options have been considered and a number are being taken forward for more detailed testing, with further discussions due in the New Year.

Enfield Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety, Cllr Chris Bond, said: "Generally residents are satisfied with the quality of the bus service in Enfield, but we acknowledge there is always room for improvements to be made which is why we appreciate TfL taking this issue seriously and looking at ways of addressing residents needs.

"It is vital we make health services as accessible as possible so that people can attend appointments quickly, easily and in a stress free manner. I look forward to further work with TfL in this area."

TfL's Head of Network Development for buses, said: "London's bus network is constantly under review to ensure we continue to provide the services our passengers need.  Good transport links are essential to make health services accessible to the community.  We are working with the council to review this and look forward to further work in the New Year."
