Road Safety Week kicks off at Lavender

Published Tuesday, 25 November 2014

This week youngsters at Lavender Primary School in Enfield took Road Safety Week to their hearts with help from Enfield Council.

The school hosted a presentation by Enfield Council’s Road Safety Team who talked to children about avoiding accidents, keeping safe on the roads and the Green Cross Code.

Cllr Chris Bond, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Environment said “It is incredibly important to teach children road safety from the youngest possible age.
“Our Road Safety in schools programme reached 7,785 children during Road Safety Week (17-21 Nov), but with 24 people a day killed or seriously injured on foot or bikes in the UK it’s clear there is a lot of work yet to do.
“National Road Safety Week is a great opportunity for us to tell people about what we are doing and we hope many more schools will be encouraged to organise a presentation for their children.”
