Land sale nets in excess of £600k

Published Wednesday, 05 November 2014

This week a plot of unused land was sold off by Enfield Council to raise vital funds.

The land, on Hoppers Road in Winchmore Hill, was open scrubland and has been bought by a private individual.

Cllr Andrew Stafford, Cabinet Member for Finance and Property said “This piece of land in Hoppers Road sat unused and was a magnet for litter and rubbish. By selling it we are not only going to ensure that it will be put to use, but also will be raising vital money to fund essential services for local people.

“The council frequently undertakes reviews of the land and buildings we own, and if they are considered to be surplus to our requirements, underperform or are underutilised we may consider selling them.

"This land was one such item, and we are delighted that this has resulted in in excess of £600k which we can now reinvest in order to improve Enfield.”
