Cash in with Big Energy Switch

Published Thursday, 09 October 2014

Residents in Enfield have another chance to find cheaper deals on gas and electricity through collective energy switching, a scheme that helps residents club together to secure lower energy prices by using a third party ‘switching provider’.

Big Energy Switch

Enfield Council is joining 22 other London boroughs to support London Councils deliver the next phase of the ‘Big London Energy Switch’ which takes place next week.

Since April 2013, there have been five previous ‘Big London Energy Switch’ auctions which have helped over 4,000 London residents switch energy suppliers and save an average of £146 on their energy bills. Particular focus is again being given to deprived communities and vulnerable residents at a time of rising energy costs.

Cllr Alan Sitkin, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development said “Enfield Council is actively trying to make its residents better off by helping them obtain cheaper gas and electricity. In these days when every penny counts I would urge as many people as possible to sign up and save on their energy bills.

“It’s quick and easy and you could be quids in.”

Residents have until midnight on Monday 13 October to register by going to Link. Information will then be sent to everyone who has registered and offers are expected from about 24 October.

There is no obligation to accept the offer to switch energy supplier and savings are not always guaranteed – this will depend on how much energy you use and your current tariff.
