Enfield Council manager Andy Rollock was celebrating winning a special award last week given by London Councils. The award, naming Andy as ‘Best Manager / Mentor’ recognises excellence in individuals and boroughs that are making apprenticeships a success in the capital.

He beat off stiff competition from the other 32 London boroughs.
Andy, who holds the role of Customer Services Manager, was nominated as he has been heavily involved in the Enfield Apprentice Scheme from its inception.
He currently has four young people in his team who have all gone on to secure full time employment. He is also instrumental in the Traineeship Programme, which has provided opportunities for people on benefits to gain work experience.  The three trainees currently in the service have just been recruited into part-time jobs.
In addition to all this he works with the Enfield Work Experience Scheme in providing short-term placements for school students throughout the borough.
Specifically Andy has:

• Mentored three apprentices based in other teams to achieve their goals.
• Supported five paid apprenticeships; four to date have secured internal employment.
• Provided over 36 work experience/pre apprenticeship placements
• Provide seven paid work experience placement for care leaver’s five of whom secured apprenticeships
Andy Rollock said “I am so excited and proud to have received this award for myself and Enfield Council.
“It has not just been about offering the opportunities for young people; it has been about mentoring and developing the skills of my staff in order for them to fulfil their potential and secure employment.
“The proof is in the pudding as they say, all of our young trainees and apprentices in my service have gone on to secure employment, many of them full time, permanent work. For this I am incredibly proud.”
Cllr Andrew Stafford, Cabinet Member for Finance and Customer Services for Enfield Council said “As we approach Customer Services Week, what better example of this than Andy Rollock who epitomises the work ethos of Enfield Council.
“His absolute commitment to gain skills, training and employment for all the staff in his care is amazing. He has rightly been awarded the gong of ‘Best Manager’ and we all applaud him.”
