This year, Trent Park in Cockfosters will be the venue for a series of free, exciting and informative walks and tours, arranged by the Friends of Trent Park and funded by Enfield Council’s Residents Priority Fund.

Led by Trent Park expert Alan Mitellas, and featuring bird and wildlife expert Andy Hawksworth and the North London Bat Group, the tours will run from April till October and cover a variety of subjects, including the history of the park, bird watching events, evening bat walks, survival and nature's food walks, and even a spooky Halloween tour.

You will be blown away as one of the walks, which follows the London LOOP footpath from Trent Park to Forty Hall, will be led part of the way by a relative of Guy Fawkes himself!! Walkers will be taken to the place in Whitewebbs Lane where Guy met with his fellow plotters, and stories of how the plot unfolded will be revealed by one of his own relations!

Cllr Bambos Charalambous, Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure Youth and Localism, said: “Last year the Trent Park Guided Walks programme brought in record numbers of participants, and this year we are expecting it to be more popular than ever.

“Funded by Enfield Council’s hugely successful ERPF programme, all the walks are free, and there is no need to book the majority of the events.

“Trent Park is Enfield’s largest park, yet many people who visit there miss most of the wonderful wildlife and surroundings, and are unaware of its incredible history. These walks offer people a chance to improve their understanding of this fantastic local asset, and therefore get more from it. Importantly, many days out nowadays can be costly, especially for a family, while these walks offer a free and enjoyable day out.”

Tony Halle, Chair of the Friends of Trent Park said: “We are so excited to be running another programme of Guided Walks this year in Trent Park, funded by Enfield Council’s ERPF.

“This year’s walks are even bigger and better than before, and we hope will encourage even more people to get out and about to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Trent Park. All the walks are free, and there is something for everyone.”

Walks Leaflets will be available in all libraries and Enfield Civic Centre.
