International Women's Day celebrates the social, political and economic achievements of women while focusing world attention on areas requiring further action.

‘Inspiring Change’ challenges the status quo and fights for women's equality and positive change. The vast array of communication channels, supportive spokespeople, equality research, campaigns and corporate initiatives means everyone can be an advocate inspiring change for women's advancement.

Chair for the event at the Dugdale Centre on Friday March 7 was Cllr Christine Hamilton (pictured), Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Community Wellbeing & Public Health.

She said, “International Women’s Day celebrates the remarkable women who fought for equality and changed women’s lives.

“I am proud to be chairing this event since we still have a great deal to overcome improving working conditions for women; recognising that women can and should compete for the top jobs; and looking at women across the world supporting their struggles.

“Our speakers for International Women’s Day have inspiring stories to tell and an indomitable spirit to mark this day.”
