Enfield Schools are Moving Up!

Published Thursday, 06 February 2014

Enfield Schools have once again shown that they are continuing to improve. Their performance is reflected strongly in the national leagues tables at primary and GCSE level compared with other establishments across England.

Our primary pupils are making better than expected progress in reading, writing and maths, and at GCSE level the success continues with the percentage of Enfield pupils achieving 5 A*-C at GCSE including English and maths, 4 percentage points higher than the national average for all schools in England.

Enfield Council’s Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, Cllr Ayfer Orhan, said: “These figures are good news for parents, good news for pupils and good news for schools, and are a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers and children, and demonstrate once again the high quality education that schools in Enfield offer their pupils.

“We are absolutely committed to making sure that parents can get their children into a good and successful school near to where they live, which is why we are continuing with our multi-million pound primary expansion programme to provide thousands of new school places in the areas they are most needed.

“We will never rest on our laurels, and we’ll always strive to improve further, but education in Enfield is in good health and we’ll make sure we work with our schools so that they continue to thrive in the future.”
