Enfield Council selected as finalist at LGC Awards

Enfield Council has been selected as a finalist in the energy efficiency category for the 2014 Local Government Chronicle Public Service Awards, to be held at Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London on 12 March 2014.

Enfield Council was nominated for its performance in the last two years during which it has:

• Secured up to £10 million ECO funding from British Gas;
• Invested £6.5 million to improve the energy performance of council buildings, schools and street lights;
• Helped 1,000 households save over £100 a year by switching energy provider;
• Used its energy projects to support local businesses and jobs.

 With fierce competition for the coveted award, Cllr Chris Bond, Cabinet Member for Environment said “Enfield Council is leading the way in energy efficiency with an estimated £500 million being invested through the ambitious Enfield 2020 Sustainability Programme.

“We are continually seeing reductions in budgets and it is therefore vital that council’s do everything they can to do things in different and more effective ways so that the vital services residents expect and rely on can be protected and improved.”
