Youth musical takes Edmonton by storm

Published Thursday, 04 October 2012

New music and show stopping dance routines will take Edmonton by storm when North Side Story hits town.

From an original idea developed by ‘Industry in the Streets’ team Angus Scott Miller, Fusion and Sharon Ayi; singer/songwriter Boyowa and Toni Neufville from Edmonton’s Craig Park Youth Centre, this is an action packed musical night of sheer entertainment.

Reworking the acclaimed musical West Side Story, the action moves from the streets of New York to north London.

Rivals,  girl gang The Sharks and boy gang, The Jets, scrap over everything – but when love touches one from each gang the mood alters – and will their love stand up to the taunts and growing hatred between the gangs?

Cllr Bambos Charalambous, cabinet member for leisure, culture and youth said, “This is an ambitious show which has captured the interest and imagination of many of our young people.

“This is their take on an eternal theme and it is one with a powerful message for all of us. There is only one night to see this Black History Month production so I suggest that people hurry to buy their tickets.”
