New Section of Towpath Opened after improvements

Yesterday saw a section of the River Lea towpath reopened after Enfield Council, Transport for London (TfL) and British Waterways teamed up on the project. It provides a significant walking and cycling link between the main London 2012 Olympic site and the Olympic Canoeing venue in Broxbourne.

Countryside Properties announced as Highmead developer

Enfield Council announced this week that Countryside Properties, working with Newlon Housing Trust, has been selected as developer for the 0.6 hectare Highmead development site in Angel, Edmonton, North London. The selection of the developer follows the granting of planning permission earlier this year for a design by architect HawkinsBrown. There will be 120 new homes, of which 38 per cent will be affordable, together with 1,092 sqm of commercial space and a 140 sqm community building. Newlon Housing Trust will be developing and managing the affordable housing.

Southgate Town Hall - Have your say!

We are consulting on the future of Southgate Town Hall. We have prepared a draft planning brief to identify different uses for the site and how it should look in the future. The brief says that Palmers Green library will be refurbished and that the town hall can be converted for another use, such as housing.

Broomfield House Restoration Project Launched

Enfield Council announced this week that is has appointed a major firm of project managers and architects to begin the design work that may finally see Broomfield House in Palmers Green restored. Faithful & Gould, based in Euston, have begun work on the project immediately.
