Conservation Area Review Phase 2 - New Conservation Areas

Conservation Area Review Phase 2 - New Conservation Areas

The Council has already approved Phase I of the Review (existing conservation areas) and has now launched the consultation on Phase II - the designation of new conservation areas. The Council has carried out a detailed assessment of the Borough and has determined that the following four areas within the Borough are of special architectural or historic interest and it proposes to designate these areas as conservation areas. They are:
  • Grange Park Conservation Area
  • Meadway Conservation Area
  • Southgate Circus Conservation Area
  • The Crescent Conservation Area

The following draft documents support the detailed assessment of the Borough: - The Characterisation Study is a detailed study of the whole Borough that identifies the areas with good potential as conservation areas. These areas have been assessed against the Reviewed Designation Criteria. Those areas that meet the criteria have been further analysed in New Conservation Areas for Enfield and prioritised carefully against what is practical and affordable. The Council has then produced Character Appraisals and Management Proposals for each proposed new conservation area.

By clicking on the links you will find the draft documents that show this process.

The Council welcomes comments from the public on the proposals and, in particular, the Management Proposals document. A public meeting will be held to consider these Management Proposals at 7.00 pm on Monday 20 October 2008 at the Council Offices at the Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex, EN1 3XA. Please telephone the Technical Support Team on 0208 379 5181 or 3866 if you wish to attend.

Please e-mail your comments to planbrief@enfield.gov.uk or by mail to: the Conservation and Design Team, Civic Centre, Silver Street, Enfield, Middlesex EN1 3XE before 5.00 pm on 29 October 2008.
